Biography
Dr. Loavenbruck graduated from Macalester College with a major in Cultural Anthropology. He returned to his home state of New York for medical school, and came back to the University of Minnesota for his neurology residency training. He then underwent five years of subspecialty and research fellowships in Peripheral Nerve, EMG/Neuromuscular, and Autonomic Disorders at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Dr. Loavenbruck conducts research at the University of Minnesota to develop new diagnostic tests for early peripheral neuropathy, with the aim of developing tests which are fast, painless, quantitative, inexpensive, portable and sensitive.
After college, Dr. Loavenbruck worked as a residential tree climber pruning and removing residential trees and repairing storm damage in the TC metro, and also built a recording studio he used to produce his own music - both hobbies he continues to enjoy. His wife Erin grew up in Eagan, and together they have a young son, Owen.
