Biography
Maria Nolano is Associate Professor of Neurology at University of Naples “Federico II” and head of “Skin biopsy Laboratory” at ICS Maugeri, Scientific Institute of Telese Terme (BN)-Italy. She has expertise in painful neuropathies and autonomic disorders. She completed her PhD program in 1995 with a thesis on sensory potentials evoked by tactile stimulation of the human finger. From 1995 to 1996 she was Research Fellow in Dr. Kennedy Skin Biopsy Lab, at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (MN) USA, acquiring expertise in the immunohistochemical analysis of skin samples using indirect immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy. She applied the study of cutaneous innervation to study hereditary and acquired neuropathies and the involvement of cutaneous sensory and autonomic nerves in neurodegenerative diseases.
